Bridging the gap between financial compliance and cybersecurity for Australian businesses
My path to founding Comptrusence began in an unexpected place: the world of financial accounting. After completing my Bachelor of Business (Accounting) at Kaplan Business School in 2018, I spent years working with Australian small businesses, helping them navigate the complex landscape of financial compliance, GST, and taxation.
But there was a problem I kept encountering. Every time I sat down with a client to discuss their compliance requirements, the conversation would inevitably shift to a growing concern: cybersecurity. Business owners would ask, "How do I know if my website is secure? What if our customer data gets breached? We can't afford $10,000 for a penetration test."
These questions haunted me. I realized that while businesses understood financial compliance, cybersecurity felt like an impenetrable fortress: expensive, complicated, and out of reach for small to medium enterprises.
In 2024, I made a decision that would change everything: I enrolled in a Bachelor of Cybersecurity at Torrens University. I wanted to understand the technical side deeply enough to build solutions that everyday businesses could actually use.
My journey wasn't just academic. From March to October 2025, I worked as an AI/ML Developer and Solutions Architect at Astude Info, where I designed and deployed end-to-end machine learning solutions for the finance and security industries. Working with AWS cloud services, Docker containerization, and microservices architecture, I built scalable ML pipelines that analyzed data and provided real-time risk analysis.
But what truly shaped my approach was hands-on experience in the trenches of cybersecurity. I participated in Google SecOps Bootcamp CTF challenges, competed in the Australian Cyber Games, and volunteered at CyberCon Melbourne 2025. I'm currently pursuing my Certified Ethical Hacker (CEH), CISSP, and ISO 27001 Lead Auditor certifications.
My technical expertise spans multiple domains. I've configured Cisco routers with Zone-based and Content-based firewalls, implemented EIGRP routing protocols, and built secure network architectures from the ground up. I've developed machine learning applications using Python and TensorFlow, including a CNN-based Android app for plant disease classification.
But perhaps most importantly, I understand how to translate complex technical concepts into language that business owners can understand—because I've been on both sides of that conversation.
Comptrusence was born from a simple belief: every Australian business deserves access to enterprise-grade security, regardless of their size or budget. Too many small businesses are left vulnerable because traditional cybersecurity services are priced for enterprise clients.
I built Comptrusence to solve that problem. By combining automated vulnerability scanning with machine learning and cloud orchestration, we've created a platform that delivers continuous security monitoring at a fraction of the cost of traditional penetration testing.
But we're more than just a scanning tool. We understand Australian compliance requirements (Essential Eight, Privacy Act 1988, APRA CPS 234, ISO 27001) because we've helped businesses navigate these frameworks from both the accounting and technical sides.
All our data is stored in Australian data centres. Our compliance reports are mapped specifically to Australian regulatory frameworks. And our support team understands the unique challenges facing Australian businesses. We're not just another overseas vendor - we're your local cybersecurity partner.
When I'm not working on Comptrusence, I'm deeply involved in the Australian cybersecurity community. I'm an active member of the Australian Information Security Association (AISA), Australian Computer Society (ACS), and ISACA. I volunteer at major conferences like CyberCon Melbourne (organized by AISA), and I participate in CTF competitions to stay sharp and connected with the latest security techniques.
I also continue to provide freelance accounting services, because I believe that financial health and cybersecurity health go hand in hand. A data breach doesn't just compromise systems - it destroys trust, damages reputations, and creates financial chaos. Preventing that outcome is what drives me every single day.
